editorial image

A man was taken to hospital last night after a boiler in his Hemel Hempstead flat exploded.

Fire fighters were called to the property in Bury Green at 9.30pm yesterday.

The man, thought to be in his fifties, was the only person in the ground floor flat at the time and no other homes needed to be evacuated.

He was taken to Watford Hospital suffering with the effects of smoke inhalation.
