Businesses, schools and community groups came together over a cuppa and cake to raise cash for a good cause.

Young and old alike did their bit for Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee Morning by tucking into tasty home-made treats along with a brew.

Among them were old folk from supported sheltered housing at St Mary’s House in George Street, Hemel Hempstead, who raised more than £100 with the help of staff and volunteers.

And sixth form students at Longdean School organised a coffee morning for staff and a dress-down day for students to rake in cash.

The fundraiser was hosted by Paul MacDonald, Emily Lupton, Daniel Jones, Eleanor Say and Stephanie Chapman, who managed to pull in £482.96.

A good turn out at Gadebridge Community Centre on Saturday, including a performance by break-dance crew B Squad 10 and a home-made cake by Angela Waterman helped raise almost £303.

Bennetts End Community Centre hosted a coffee morning in memory of cancer sufferer Kaylee Howard. The fundraiser, which raked in £318, was organised by Kaylee’s grandmother Irene Phillips and auntie Tina Phillips.

Little ones at Westfield First School in Durrants Lane, Berkhamsted, raised £185; King’s Bookshop in Kings Langley pulled in £270; Adeyfield School raised £162.37; staff at Bonmarche in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, collected £48 for the cause; teachers at Lockers Park School in Park Lane, Hemel Hempstead raised £200 through the selling of home-made cakes and staff at the Gazette tucked in to home-made cupcakes with fresh brewed coffee.
