Lorry fire causes A41 closure

Part of the A41 remains closed this afternoon after a lorry fire last night.

The road was closed between the Woodlands roundabout in Aylesbury and Icknield Way roundabout at Tring at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

The closure is expected to last until Saturday evening.

A lorry was carrying hay bales which caught fire and fell onto the carriageway, causing extensive damage to the road surface at the Woodlands roundabout junction with Aylesbury Road.

A spokesman for Buckinghamshire County Council said: “As a result of this damage, the carriageway will require emergency repairs that will be carried out once the site is declared safe by the fire brigade.

“Transport for Buckinghamshire are working with Thames Valley Police and the fire brigade to re-open the roundabout as soon as possible to single-lane traffic in order to ease the impact on roads in the area.”
