Long serving cop joins force

New Herts Constabularys deputy Chief Constable Andy Adams.

A new top cop with 27 years of service as a police officer under his belt has taken up the post as Herts Constabulary’s Deputy Chief Constable.

Andy Adams, who started the new job last week, joined Essex Police in 1985, later transferring to Kent as Assistant Chief Constable in 2009.

He led the 2012 Olympics operation in Kent, working with UK and European partners to ensure security at the border and safety during events in the county.

Mr Adams said: “I know I am joining a high performing constabulary with a proud tradition of serving the community with officers, staff and volunteers committed to doing the best they can to meet the expectations of the people of Hertfordshire.

“I will be doing everything I can to rapidly understand how the force works, meet with partners and do my best to contribute towards Hertfordshire remaining one of the safest counties in the country.”

Chief Constable Andy Bliss said: “He will undoubtedly be a great asset to the force.”
