Lives at risk in Hemel stroke ward claims nurse
A nurse and teacher has warned lives are been put at risk in the stroke ward at Hemel Hempstead Hospital.
Margaret Bull, a qualified nurse who teaches potential health care professionals, says patients 'won't make it to Watford' if they suffer a cardiac arrest.
The ward is used for rehabilitating patients, including Mrs Bull's sister, who have been treated in the acute department at Watford General Hospital.
"They are sending people who are still pretty sick to Hemel and there are not providing proper support for them," she said.
"If you are taken ill at night or at the weekend there is no doctor to cover.
"If someone arrested they would never get them up to Watford in time."
West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust says patients are clinically assessed before they are sent to Hemel Hempstead from Watford.
