A TEENAGE cooking champ was given some tips by Raymond Blanc when the celebrity chef popped into town to see his new restaurant.

The presenter of BBC2’s The Hungry Frenchman was there to inspect his new Brasserie Blanc in Berkhamsted High Street – which opens tonight.

But while in town, he met Nicola Brownless, 15, winner of the Young Chef contest by Berkhamsted Bulbourne and Hemel Hempstead rotary clubs.

Nicola, who got her first chef whites for her ninth birthday, said: “I love feeling the success of creating something that tastes really good. Raymond was fantastic. You can tell the passion he puts into cooking.”

The Michelin Star winner also went to Berkhamsted School and the Swan Youth Centre on Wednesday last week.

Nicola, who goes to Abbot’s Hill School in Hemel Hempstead, said Raymond is very passionate about getting the younger generation involved in cooking.
