Kids run wild

Green-thinking youngsters from Bovingdon Primary School saw for themselves how they managed to help a wildlife sanctuary.

The children are members of the school's eco council and last summer they decided that money raised at a sponsored activity day should go to the St Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Haddenham.

Teacher Jill Smith, who leads the council said last Monday's visit was a huge success.

"The children themselves decided to give money to the animals and on our visit they got to see the sort of things the sanctuary do with it," she explained.

"They had a wonderful time even though most of the animals were asleep because they are nocturnal," she added.

The children gave 500 to the sanctuary, while the majority of the money raised will be put towards building an outdoor classroom at the school.
