Ivy Crowhurst

Nominated by Ann & Bob Parsons

Few people give up as much of their time for charity as Hemel Hempstead pensioner Ivy Crowhurst.

Come rain or shine, Ivy, of Marlins Turn, can be spotted in her wheelchair raising money for causes close to her heart.

For this reason, charity stalwarts Bob and Ann Parsons of HOPE for Children have put deserving Ivy forward for People's Pride.

The couple say: "Although Ivy is unable to get around so easily these days, she is very much involved in the community as an active volunteer.

"She is often to be seen in her wheelchair collecting for charity, selling raffle tickets and working on charity stalls.

"Much of this work is outdoors in all weathers and usually starting early in the mornings."

Organisations to benefit from Ivy's volunteering include the Iain Rennie Hospice and HOPE for Children.

Bob said: "She is held in high esteem. Long may Ivy be one of the people who is always around at fundraising events - these would not be the same without her sitting in state overseeing us all."
