Members of a football team formed in memory of murder victim Billy Dove have stripped off to raise cash for the charity that lives on in the 21-year-old’s name.

Doves United FC is mostly made up of the popular mechanic’s friends and was formed by Billy’s father Paul in the months following his tragic death.

Last season the team won a treble of trophies in their late pal’s memory and now the brave players have bared all for a calendar that will raise funds for Billy’s Wish, the anti-knife crime charity which works with schoolchildren in the borough.

The nude project was the brainchild of Billy’s aunt and photographer Sally Masson.

She said: “It is a pleasure to watch these boys play every Sunday, each one playing from the heart. I believe this has kept my brother Paul going and the lads focused through the horrendous months following Billy’s death.

“The idea came to me when they won their third cup. It was just so emotional for everyone. I knew they’d be up for it.”

Each month in the calendar has a heartfelt quote from the player pictured. Calendars, costing £9.99, are on sale now and are available from Michael’s Barbers in Adeyfield and Apsley’s Apple Tanning Studio.
