Inspectors say patient care at hospice is great
HOSPICE care has been described as ‘excellent’ after a surprise inspection two weeks ago.
The government’s independent Care Quality Commission interviewed 23 staff, more than 10 volunteers, several patients and their families during a trip to The Hospice of St Francis in Northchurch.
The inspector’s report – just released – says: “People we spoke with during our visit on January 5 overwhelmingly told us of the excellent care they received at the hospice.
“People’s feedback told us they were extremely grateful for the care they received with people referring to staff as ‘superb’.”
Hospice director Dr Ros Taylor said: “I think this will stand us in good stead for the future – but we can’t and wouldn’t ever be complacent.
“I would like to publicly thank those who contribute to daily life at the hospice.”
