Hemel man admits Tesco knife-point robberies

A man has pleaded guilty to threatening shop staff with a knife and forcing them to hand over cash in two separate attacks.

John Simpson, 24, of Waterhouse Street, Hemel Hempstead, admitted two counts of robbery at the town centre’s Tesco Express on the evenings of November 14 and 20.

He held his hands up to the crimes at St Albans Magistrates Court on Thursday and will appear before the city’s crown court on January 4.
