Grandmother attacked with eggs

A grandmother was left in tears after being pelted with eggs as she walked home.

Lynda Hobley, 61, was walking along Brook Street in Tring when she was attacked on Sunday, June 21.

"They must have gone out with the intention of doing it. Nobody goes out with eggs in their car. It was a real shock.

"I can't understand the pleasure anybody gets out of it," said the grandmother to one.

Retired Mrs Hobley, of Fields End, had popped out to post some letters just after 8pm when the incident happened.

The force of the impact caused her to double over and the former office administrator said it could have knocked her to the ground.

This is not the first time that walkers have been targeted in the town. Members of Tring Running Club, who were out jogging, were hit by bags of flour and eggs which were launched from a passing car in October last year.

Children have also been targeted in the past.

A spokesman for Herts Police urged anyone who is attacked with eggs to report it by calling 0845 33 00 222
