Graham’s team simply rides waves for cancer
Hemel Hempstead M&S employee Graham Witham, left, with his crew.
A SUPERMARKET employee swept across the Atlantic Ocean in a £120,000 charity row.
Former Royal Marine Graham Witham, from Piccotts End in Hemel Hempstead, and his team of four aboard HM&S Twiggy completed their 65-day voyage from the Canary Islands to Barbados during December.
Now the M&S employee has added up the team’s fundraising total, exceeding their £75,000 target for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
Graham, who lost three-and-a-half stone along the way, said: “It’s been a challenging but incredible journey and it wouldn’t have been possible without the overwhelming support of friends, family and sponsors.
“The amount we have been able to fundraise is a testament to that.”
Graham, 44, lives with his wife Nicola, has two grown-up children and is known as the boat’s Mr Fix It.
The crew also included Ken Maynard from Yeovil, Somerset, Jason Howard-Ady, of Weymouth, Surrey and Aldo Diana, of Edenbridge, Kent as they crossed more than 2,600 miles of water.
