Fire victim taken to hospital

Firefighters raced to a home in Leverstock Green on Saturday to tackle a loft blaze.

Two crews from the main Hemel Hempstead 999 base in Queensway were backed up by colleagues from Garston, St Albans and Kings Langley.

One casualty was taken to hospital for treatment to burns as the crews brought the lunchtime blaze in Poynders Hill under control.

Less than half an hour later, crews were alerted to another reported house fire in Fennycroft Road, Gadebridge.

Crews who attended found a rubbish store ablaze and after putting out the fire used specialist gear to ventilate a shop unit.
