Everyone was invited to station’s birthday

Radio Dacorum marks its first birthday by broadcasting from Marlowes Shopping Centre.

Radio Dacorum marks its first birthday by broadcasting from Marlowes Shopping Centre.

Shoppers got to find out more about Radio Dacorum when the volunteer-run station moved into the town centre for three days.

To mark the station’s first birthday, broadcasters left their usual base at Grovehill Community Centre to take up residence in the Marlowes Shopping Centre from Thursday.

It meant passersby could find out more about the online station, run by good cause Community Action Dacorum.

Loretta Anderson, from the charity, said: “It was lovely to take our presenters out of the studio to the town centre, people were very interested in Dacorum having its own online radio station”

Over the three days prize draw tickets for goodies donated by businesses were given out and the winning numbers have been posted at www.radiodacorum.org.uk. Winners should contact the station on 01442 384874 to claim their prizes.

There was also live music and dance sessions, which saw members of Radio Dacorum, join the latest internet session by performing the Harlem Shake. Watch it by clicking here

On Friday, a birthday celebration was held with local dignitaries including former Dacorum mayor Roger Taylor, who raised cash for the station during his time in office.
