Engineer died from asbestos
A retired engineer has died from a disease caused by exposure to asbestos.
Ronald Walker died at his home on Ashgrove, Hemel Hempstead on November 19 last year, from a blood clot caused by an asbestos-related cancer of the lungs.
The 77-year-old spent his working life attending to heating and air conditioning units.
At an inquest in Hatfield on Monday, coroner Graham Danbury concluded his death was caused by industrial disease.
He said: "Mr Walker was an engineer by profession and worked for a number of organisations and for himself, in particular in the air conditioning industry.
"His work took place in hotels and other premises where he was attending to the heating and inevitably this exposed him to asbestos.
"We can be quite satisfied there was enough exposure in his working life to asbestos to mean in this case the malignant mesothelioma was an industrial disease."
