Early morning lorry blaze in Hemel

Firefighters were called into action in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) after an articulated lorry caught fire in Hemel Hempstead.

Both Hemel fire station crews attended the incident, which happened at 1.18am in Maxted Road.

The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital suffering with smoke inhalation.

East of England Ambulance Service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “The man, who we believe to be 45 years old, was given oxygen therapy by paramedics.

“Following this, he was transported to Watford General Hospital for further assessments.”
