Diver boosts tourism for Malta

The owner of a diving school has been credited with boosting tourism in Malta.

Melita Brown, 29, was named top sports instructor at the Malta Tourism Authority`s STAR Awards last month (February).

The former Longdean School pupil, who calls Tannsmore Close in Hemel Hempstead home when she is in the UK, received more nominations than anyone else in her category.

One read: `Melita is a fantastic dive instructor and guide to the island and enhanced my experience of Malta`.

Miss Brown is a professional diving instructor and has completed more than 3,000 dives in Malta where she co-owns Corsair Diving School in

the town of Bugibba.

The graduate has dived in Australia, Thailand, Turkey, Cyprus, Mexico, the Maldives and many parts of the Caribbean.

Her prize for scoring the top tourism accolade was 800 Euro and an 18ct gold lapel pin.

She said: "Malta is one of the most popular diving areas in the world and offers terrific diving opportunities for novices and experts alike".
