Did you see getaway car?

POLICE are appealing for witnesses who may have spotted a car in Hemel Hempstead that was later used in an armed robbery.

The dark coloured Volkswagen Golf, with the registration V531 RBW, was in the town in the days leading up to the attack in Watford, in which two men with guns escaped with a cash box.

The pair robbed a security worker making a cash delivery to the Abbey National bank on St Albans Road just after 1.30am on Saturday. (August 23)

Det Sgt Kevin Brown, of the Local Crime Group in Watford, said: "We are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this car making off from the bank or speeding down the St Albans Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

"I am particularly keen to speak with the passengers of a Ford Mondeo taxi who were using the cash point at the time of the incident, as we believe they may have information which could greatly assist our investigation.

"I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car around the Hemel Hempstead area last week, or who may have any information which could help us with our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Brown on 01923 472494, or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.
