Cyclist death case adjourned
Lawyers acting for a man accused of killing a pensioner cyclist in a hit and run have applied to have the case dismissed.
John Charlton, aged 50, was due to enter a plea at St Albans Crown Court on Monday (April 27).
But his hearing was adjourned until next month to give his barrister time to make the application.
Mr Charlton, of Surrey Terrace, Chester le Street in County Durham is charged with causing death by careless driving.
Jim Loveridge, 71, was killed when his bike collided with a car on Wingrave Road in Long Marston, near Tring, in July last year.
Judge Michael Baker QC adjourned the hearing, giving the defence seven days to prepare their case.
