Children’s details stolen in playground raid

THE personal details of around 1,000 children have been snatched by thieves who stole a computer from inside an adventure playground.

Burglars broke into Bennetts End Adventure Playground in Hemel Hempstead over the weekend.

As well as a computer, £850 was taken from a safe inside the council-run adventure playground’s office.

Dacorum Borough Council group manager Julie Still said: “It is deeply regretful that this has happened and I am sorry for any concern this causes.

“I want to reassure parents and carers whose children visit the adventure playground that we are taking this theft seriously.

“However, whilst this incident is of course unsettling, our users should not be unduly concerned, as the advice we are receiving from the police is that this was an opportunist crime.”
