Children to learn about road safety
Youngsters are to get advice on road and personal safety in special workshops organised by the council.
As part of Neighbourhood Action month, throughout July Dacorum Borough Council has organised sessions to encourage children to find safe and environmentally friendly ways to go about their journeys.
As well as road safety, there will be advice on bullying and saying 'no' to strangers.
The interactive sessions will include a speed indicator device which will record how fast you can run - plus an area where children can direct traffic across child-sized zebra crossings.
The council's Neighbourhood Action team and PCSOs will be available to chat to children and their parents about road safety at the sessions, which are available to all four to seven year olds.
Hemel Hempstead PCSO Daniel McManus, who will be attending some of the events, said: "Road safety is really important on our busy highways and we are hoping that these events will teach the children about how to take care on the roads in a fun and memorable way.
"We are also looking forward to meeting some of the people in the community we serve and answering their questions."
The events are as follows:
Thursday 2, 3.30pm to 5pm, Heights Community Hall.
Tuesday 14, 2.30pm to 4pm, Markyate Village Hall.
Wednesday 15, 3.30pm to 5pm, Adeyfield Community Centre.
Monday 20, 2pm to 3.30pm, Warners End Community Centre.
Wednesday 22, 3.30pm to 5pm, Grovehill Community Centre.
