Cape thief foiled by Oxfam’s Kim
24/1/12 Kim Scott stopped a shoplifter stealing two leather coats from Oxfam, Berkhamsted.
A 65-YEAR-OLD woman who volunteers for Oxfam tackled a shoplifter in the charity shop and made her return two leather jackets.
The cunning crook tried to get them out of the Berkhamsted High Street store after putting them on under a massive, dark orange cape.
Her underhanded accomplice kept a till attendant talking while buying an item for £2.49.
Volunteer Kim Scott said: “I saw a woman acting suspiciously, kept an eye on her, then stood between her and the front door. I did not say anything, but looked her straight in the eye...”
Read the rest of Kim’s story in this week’s Berkhamsted & Tring Gazette, out now.
