Cancer survivor climbs Kilimanjaro for children
Chris Pope, 19, of Pitstone, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.
A teenager who survived cancer has scaled a mountain to help other youngsters fighting the disease.
Chris Pope, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was just eight years old, is now fighting fit and working as a lifeguard.
He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Children with Cancer UK and has so far raised £3,550.
The 19-year-old, of Crispin Field, Pitstone, said: “I have always wanted to help kids out since I had it and I always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro, which is handy.”
The keen footballer joined 28 other climbers, who were taking on the feat for a range of reasons and for a variety of causes.
“I met some amazing people. At one point everyone spoke about their charities and it got really emotional. It brought everyone closer,” said Chris.
“It was awesome.”
