Call to force baby batterer to serve jail term in his home country

A bid has been launched to force a man convicted of beating a baby girl so badly that she has been left blind and deaf to serve his prison term in his native Poland.

The baby batterer, who lived in Hemel Hempstead but whose identity has been protected by a court order, is currently serving 15 years behind bars in a UK prison.

His sentence was increased by four years and three months after Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning called for the tariff to be looked at again.

Now he wants the 35-year-old, whose catalogue of abuse has left his girlfriend’s daughter needing around the clock care, to be moved out of the country.

Mr Penning said: “I have written to the Attorney General in the hope that this man can be transferred to Poland to serve his sentence there.

“At the very least I want an assurance that he will be extradited to Poland on completion of his sentence here and never allowed to set foot on British soil again.

“This has been a heartbreaking case and I am determined that justice is done.”

The baby’s mother is also serving time in jail for two years and nine months after failing to get medical help for the youngster.
