Bus ride earns passenger £100
Regular bus user Sarah Delderfield was not only greeted with a smile when she boarded a bus earlier this month, but was handed £100.
To celebrate his 100,000th customer, Jim Petty, who owns the independent bus service Little Jim's, gave 100 to 21-year-old Ms Delderfield.
The mother-of-one, who is two months pregnant, said: "It was total fluke that I got on that bus. The one I usually get was late and I had really bad morning sickness.
"I went to sit down and was handed 100- I was very surprised."
Ms Delderfield, of Westfield Road in Berkhamsted, added the money came in handy paying for bus fares, petrol and bits and pieces around the house.
The service, which runs from Northchurch to Hemel Hempstead, via Berkhamsted, was set up in October 2006.
Mr Petty, of Castle Street, Berkhamsted said: "It was really as a thank you. Not only to our regulars but to all of our customers who support us."
