Buried treasure fails to sell

The pendant found by metal detector enthusiast Mary Hannaby, which was valued at between £150,000 to £250,000, has failed to sell at auction.

The 15th century gold piece, which is not much bigger than a postage stamp, had bids up to 38,000 but failed to reach its reserve when it went under the hammer at Sotheby's last Thursday (July 9).

For the full story, including reaction from Mrs Hannaby see The Gazette.
