The young star of West End musical Billy Elliot popped in to mark the opening of a new Berkhamsted hair salon Head Strong.

Dancer Kane Ward, 14, is a relative of hairdresser Kelly Strong who has set up shop in her dad’s Bank Mill Lane premises, which also houses Strong’s Printers.

The business officially opened on Saturday, January 5, but Kane, a pupil of Tring School for the Performing Arts, was performing over the weekend so visited a day early.

Kelly, 35, has been a hairdresser for 15 years and has taught the art at Astley Cooper School and West Herts College.

She said: “I have been mobile for years. My dad owns the premises and gave me the opportunity to have a bit of space.

She workson an appointment only basis but passers-by are welcome to come in and have a look around the salon, which also houses a small clothes boutique. To book call 01442 878707.
