Berko Barracdua brings home the bounty
Five-star swimmer Alice Hewson made a splash at the East Region BAGCAT Championships.
She brought home a gold in amongst her five medals, the 12-year-old Berkhamsted Barracuda winning the 100m backstroke in less than 1.10.
She also picked up silvers in the 100m and 200m butterfly with bronzes coming in the 200m IM and 200m backstroke.
Four of the five medal-winning performances were swum in National Qualifying Times.
She finished in second place overall in her category in a repeat of her 2009 performance.
Alice, who was also fourth in the 100m and 200m freestyle, was joined by club mate Greg Baxter in Norwich over two weekends.
He, like Alice, racked up pbs along the way with 16th in the 200m back, 31st in the 100m free, 22nd in the 200m IM and 11th in the 100m breast.
He was 29th out of 46 competitors, with Barracudas 19th out of 33 clubs on the medal table making them the fifth best-scoring club in Herts and the top in Dacorum.
Head Barracuda coach Michelle Hewson said: "As usual, the standard of swimming was very high and Greg and Alice swam some really great races.
"It's been really difficult over the last two weeks as our pool's been out of action, so they've been training significantly less than they normally would and in outdoor pools, so preparation hasn't been the best.
But as usual, they rose to the challenge and I am very proud of them both."
