Artist who put Hemel in the picture has died
A man who captured the picturesque side of Hemel Hempstead in his artwork has passed away.
Artist Peter Wagon, whose work was this summer put on display to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in the town’s Marlowes Shopping Centre, died peacefully on Sunday, August 26.
The exhibition included Mr Wagon’s original 1952 Post Office Savings Bank poster created to celebrate the Queen’s Coronation.
Mr Wagon was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease 12 years ago and he spent the last year of his life at Highview Lodge Care Home in Gadebridge, Hemel Hempstead.
A memorial service will be held at St Mary’s Church in Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday, September 12, at 2.30pm.
