Anne makes sure Cameron is comfy
Mike Penning, MP for the Hemel Hempstead, made a dream come true for Hemel Hempstead resident Anne Skidmore when he arranged for her to present a home-made gift to Prime Minister David Cameron.
A WOMAN with a passion for needlecraft got to present her handmade cushion to Prime Minister David Cameron.
Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning made the dream come true for Anne Skidmore, 56, who lives in Old Town.
She is a regular visitor to the Waterside Centre in Kings Langley - a charity that provides adults with learning disabilities a haven where they can socialise while learning new skills and building on existing ones.
Anne had created the colourful cushion while at the day centre in Waterside.
She was escorted to Downing Street by Elaine Precious from Mencap Dacorum. She said: “Anne was extremely excited to meet the Prime Minister and present him with her cushion. This really was a special day for all of us.”
Mr Cameron chatted to Anne about the Kings Langley charity and told her how Mencap had been very helpful with his severely disabled son Ivan, who sadly died in 2009.
Mr Penning said: I am delighted that the Prime Minister was able to find a couple of minutes of his very busy day to meet Anne.”
She also met Chancellor George Osborne and attended a debate in the Chamber of the House of Commons.
