Air we go! Panto team solve the Peter problem
Ambitious panto directors Karina Bygate and Stewart Fairthorne set themselves a real challenge when they decided to stage Peter Pan as the Hemel Hempstead Theatre Company’s seasonal show.
But when the curtain goes up on their version of the classic story, they promise it will be flying tonight.
Space is tight at their Boxmoor Playhouse home, so rigging up the gear to allow for those crucial scenes of Peter and Wendy in midair was no mean feat.
Karina said: “We could’ve decided to fake it but it’s Peter Pan. I want to wow the crowd. If we were going to do it, it had to be done right.”
“We finally managed to work out a way of holding two bodies in the air – and fit it in the limited space we had. In the end, our patience paid off.”
You can see the results during the run, from Friday, December 7 to Monday, December 16 – call 01442 234004 to book tickets.
