'Adored' schoolboy named after hockey tragedy

A 12 year old schoolboy who died after a sports accident has been named as GianCarlo Ferrara from Tring.

The young pupil, of Kay Close, collapsed when he was hit on the head by a ball while playing in a hockey game at Lockers Park School in Hemel Hempstead, where he is a pupil, on Tuesday, December 2.

Paramedics were called to his aid and fought to save him, but GianCarlo died later that day at Watford General Hospital.

A statement from the young boy's family said: "Carlo was loved more than he would ever know by his parents Joseph and Eva, his brother Salvatore, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and all his family and many friends at Lockers Park School where he was a pupil.

"We adored him so."

His inquest was opened and adjourned on Monday (December 8).
