A plastic fantastic scheme

A council has expanded its recycling scheme to reduce its use of landfill sites.

Three Rivers District Council will now collect most household plastics, including margarine tubs, yogurt pots and carrier bags.

It already has the highest recycling rate in the county, but improved its plastics collection following requests from residents.

Public services boss cllr Phil Brading said: "It's always possible to do more.

"The new scheme will help to improve Hertfordshire's environment by

reducing landfill needs still further."
