Marine medic James Allsopp and his fellow Hemel 100 Milers were hoping to raise £20,000 for the Royal British Legion but they’ve exceeded their target to rake in an impressive £22,390.28.

The team took on 117 miles over four days in November, running from the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to the cenotaph outside St John’s Church in Boxmoor.

James said: “We’re still recovering from the run, it was hard, and we’re proud of doing it, but the main achievement is raising that money for a great cause. No matter how far we ran or how much pain we went through it wouldn’t have come to anything without the generosity from all the people who donated, and supported us throughout. So a big thank you from all of us.”

The group are all former pupils of Cavendish School.
