The former Tiswas star was defeated by Tring Park Cricket Club captain Benn Langdon in the Lord’s Taverners XI appearance at the ground opposite Tesco in Tring on bank holiday Monday.

The match was organised to raise money for youth cricket and disability charity Lord’s Taverners, of whom Mr Tarrant is a captain.

Organiser Jeremy Chapman said the TV personality was ‘gracious’ in his defeat and was a ‘really lovely guy’ who readily signed autographs, posed for photos and enjoyed a few beers with fellow players after the game.

Mr Chapman, of Roy Chapman Cars in Berkhamsted, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day. It was very family-orientated and Chris was so nice.

“I want to thank the businesses who donated prizes to the raffle, the kitchen and bar staff at the cricket club who were amazing, and everyone who came along.”

The celebrity team included former England bowling legends Darren Gough and Andy Caddick, along with former England batsman Neil Smith.

The raffle raised more than £1,000 for the charity.
