Rennie Grove Hospice Care has secured two ballot places in this year’s Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 cycle challenge which takes place on Sunday, August 2.

A record number of 86,001 eager cyclists entered the ballot for a place in the event, part of the Mayor of London’s award-winning festival of cycling.

More than 25,000 riders are expected to participate in the third edition of the 100-mile sportive, which begins at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and heads out through London to the testing hills of Surrey’s beautiful countryside before coming back to the capital and a spectacular finish on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

The event has already set two UK records for charity fundraising in a one-day cycling event. In 2013, riders raised more than £7 million and in 2014, despite poor weather, the riders raised more than £10 million for charity.
