Taking place on mainly traffic-free routes, the rides are suitable for all the family and free of charge.

Organised by British Cycling and Dacorum Borough Council, the first ride is on Sunday, when cyclists will be ‘Taking the Nickey’, and rides continue each Sunday until November 13. On October 30, the ride is Fourways Loop, on November 6 it’s Three Villages and the Countryside and on November 13 it’s Taking the Nickey again.

All the rides set off from Grovehill Adventure Playground, on Redbourn Road.

Sky Ride Locals are free, local bike rides guided by friendly British Cycling-trained ride leaders along scenic planned routes.

David Bourque, of British Cycling, said: “There’s no better way to get outdoors, get some exercise and explore your local area with friends than on a bike ride.

“Join the fun and register for a bike ride taking place in Hemel Hempstead today.”

Borough councillor Neil Harden said: “Whether you’ve never cycled before, are out of practice or want to ride with all the family, Sky Ride local rides are for everyone. These free rides are designed to encourage everyone to rediscover the fun of cycling and to give people the chance to get out in the fresh air and explore the countryside this autumn.”
