Hemel Hempstead has fallen at the last hurdle in the Great British High Street Awards.

The town was shortlisted for the final three in the category for those with a population of 30,000 people, but missed out today to Blackburn in Lancashire.

The competition is run by the government, and offers towns to win a share of a prize pot worth £100,000.
