A Hemel Hempstead man has the gift of the grow, and he’s calling on other men to harness the power of the beard to help beat bowel cancer.
As one of the national Decembeard ambassadors, Colin is urging local men to stop shaving and go grizzly for the month of December to raise funds for the charity Beating Bowel Cancer.
Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer.
Each year more than 41,000 people are diagnosed with the disease but, if caught early, more than 90 per cent of cases can be treated successfully.
Colin, who owns Campbell Grab Services, was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer in August last year.
He has undergone chemo and radiotherapy and is now in remission and recovering well after surgery to remove a tumour on his liver.
Colin said: “Beating Bowel Cancer is a charity very close to me.
“Without the money they raise, my story would be very different.
“Decembeard is a simple way to raise money for the charity – all you need to do is grow a beard.
“And it’s a great talking point.
“Spreading awareness of symptoms can save lives.
“I hope that men in the Hemel area will sign up today and make a real difference.”
