It was celebrations all round after a Tring-based company was ranked 97th out of 100 Best Companies to Work For – making the prestigious Sunday Times list for the sixth time.
Business improvements firm Grass Roots – which has its head office at Pennyroyal Court in Station Road – was up against a total of 897 companies who completed the survey this year.
The list was announced at a glitzy awards bash in Battersea, London, and particularly noteworthy were the results of the employee survey which revealed that there’s a strong loyalty to the company – with more than half of staff having worked there for five years or more.
Staff stress levels were found to be lower than average after the company was ranked 26th in the wellbeing category.
The survey also revealed that 71 per cent of staff feel the company contributes enough to the local community – a category where just 11 other firms scored higher.
This is thanks to charitable activities being the norm at Grass Roots, with regular dress-down Fridays, volunteer opportunities, initiatives to encourage environmentally-kind commuting and sponsorship of local sports and art groups.
Chief people officer Vicky Edwards said: “Featuring in the top 100 for the sixth time is something we’re extremely proud of. The survey provides us with invaluable information that ensures we continually strive to be a great employer and provide a really great place for our people to work.”
Head of employee engagement Francis Goss: “Focusing on our employees brings real benefits such as improved workplace engagement, better staff retention, reduced recruitment costs and greater financial performance.”
