An 11-year-old has won the chance to walk out with Scotland’s football team who will be playing Wales in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier tomorrow.
Archie Jacobs, of Park Road, Tring, will be alongside players like Charlie Adam, Steven Fletcher and Gary Caldwell when they stride out onto the pitch at Hampden Park, Glasgow.
Tring School student Archie, who plays for the under-12s team at Tring Tornadoes, said: “I can’t wait to walk out on to the pitch. I really like football and some really great players are going to be playing. Hopefully it will be an amazing game with a lot of goals.”
The chance to walk out and then watch the game live comes after he entered a nationwide competition by fast food firm McDonald’s to escort Scotland’s players out before their big game.
Football legend Kenny Dalglish, who is now McDonald’s head of Scottish football, said: “The atmosphere for this qualifier will be incredible as always and I hope all the player escorts enjoy every second of it.”
