Teens tackle epic drive for charity
A big-hearted group of Hemel Hempstead teenagers have caught the travel bug and are preparing to drive to Mongolia for charity.
The three friends James Stagg, 18, Chris Bowman, 19, and Andrew Mawer, 18, will set off on the epic journey in their yellow Fiat this July.
James said: "We all really love travelling, and when I saw Jack Osbourne taking part in the rally for one of his extreme adventures, he seemed to be having such a great fun.
"He's a little bit of an idol, so I suggested it to my friends and they loved the idea."
The trio, who are all former students of Hemel Hempstead School, must collect at least 1,000 in sponsorship money before they can begin the trip, and they hope to raise around 1,200 in total.
James said: "Mongolia is such a different country, and along the way are big countries like Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
"It will be so exciting to see all these places and the fact that we'll be raising money for charities is a big bonus."
The charities supported include Mercy Corps, the Christina Noble Children's Foundation (CNCF) and Children and Young People's Protection and Development (CYPPD).
Most of the money raised funds projects to help Mongolian children, and organisation Mongol Rally hopes to reach a target of more than 200,000 this summer.
The Hemel Hempstead teenagers plan to visit the orphanages and villages their money will aid.
They also plan to return to Mongolia to teach for some time when they graduate.
James said: "It makes me feel great to know that we'll be giving money towards such a good cause as well as having an amazing adventure."
