After Music on the Moor, it's wildlife on the Moor at Hemel Hempstead!
The Boxmoor Trust is holding a family day called Wildlife Explorers Open Day on Saturday, July 21 between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm.
A spokeswoman for the trust explained: "We have groups of youngsters who have been meeting once a month since 2002 to enjoy a whole range of activities which bring young people into close contact with the natural world. They love it. At the moment we have two groups for ages 8 to 11 and 12 to 16.
"Now - by popular demand – of youngsters and parents - we are launching a third group for the 6 to 8 years olds. This Group will meet from October onwards on Saturday afternoons, with (unlike the other two groups) parents/grandparents, expected to stay with the youngsters.
"We are looking not only to make awareness of the natural world available to even more children but also to involve more parents as helpers and leaders – so please come along and see what it's all about.
"Adults will be as fascinated as the youngsters by activities such as pond-dipping, mini-beast hunting and dissecting owl pellets (always popular!). Throughout the year we have lots more exciting activities.
"Come equipped for whatever the weather brings. Our leaders and volunteers include our own staff and members of the local RSPB Group whose support is invaluable.
"We have trained first-aiders and all leaders are CRB checked. Safety is a priority. We want you coming back again and again!

The Old Barn is accessed by the lane on the left just after the Trust offices on London Road (A425) (just before the junction accessing the A41 when heading for Berkhamsted).
