Gadebridge Townswomen's (Evening) Guild May 28

The May meeting started with chairman PJ Smith welcoming everyone. The guild now has 37 members.

PJ introduced the speaker of the evening, Len Little, who told of life as a police dog handler.

He said he first thought about it as a child and after serving in the army the idea had not left him, so he joined the police and pursued his ambition.

Len told of the very interesting career he had chosen with the tracking of drugs, guns and criminals with the use of dogs.

Len brought in photos of some of the dogs he had trained and worked with.

Since his retirement he has got involved with an organisation Peace Makers International who help with the Third World problems.

Len told of his work with them. PJ thanked him for coming and giving us such an interesting talk.

The refreshments were served with biscuits brought in by Jean Box on the occasion of her birthday.

Jean Murphy took names of members who want to go to the theatre in July.

Iris Stevens said there will be an activity evening at her house on June 11.

Pat Smith said everyone who went to Denbies Vinery on May 9 seemed to have enjoyed the day.

There was a lot to do and see. It was made more enjoyable with such perfect weather.

A lot of members came home with purchases they had made, including some wine to enjoy at a later date.

She said owing to the guild holiday in July the birthday party will be a week later on July 15.

Pat said those members who went to Adeyfield birthday party had a most enjoyable evening and Adeyfield had made them very welcome.

The raffle was drawn, and the chairman wished everyone goodnight.

The next meeting is on June 10, 7.30pm. Visitors are always welcome.

We meet at Gadebridge Community Centre upstairs (there is a lift). Inquiries 01442 262156.
