Big break for rapper

A rapper raised in Hemel Hempstead will perform to thousands of music fans when he supports a hip hop star in London.

Phil Smith, known by his stage name Alias, will appear alongside chart-topping American artist Flo Rider.

The gig - at the O2's sister arena, indigo2, on July 12 - is the biggest in the 25-year-old's career.

Alias, who grew up on George Street in Hemel Hempstead's old town, said: "I've been doing lots of shows and getting my name out there - but this is the biggest yet.

"I was ecstatic when I found out.

"You get a lot of experience performing on the same stage as big names."

Tickets are the available from online booking agent Ticketmaster and more information on Alias can be found at www.myspace.com/alias2007.
