Babies and other credit cards accepted!

Play workers were scratching their heads when a mystery signwriter left his mark on a nursery.

A trend for cheeky signs was reignited in Hemel Hempstead last week when a poster appeared at Moor End Farm Kindergarten in London Road, Boxmoor.

Beneath the nursery's own sign, which reads We Now Take Babies, appeared a makeshift poster reading And All Other Major Credit Cards.

The nursery's Cheryl McMichael said: "We put a sign up to let people know we've started accepting children under the age of one and came in last week to find a mystery sign writer had added their own sign beneath it.

"It really tickled us and we thought it may be the same person who was writing mystery signs earlier in the year."

The latest handiwork is missing the signature of 'Tophe', Hemel Hempstead's prolific mystery signwriter who first started popping up after bad weather left the town's roads littered with potholes.

He, or she, posted their first artwork in Leighton Buzzard Road warning motorists of the 'Hertfordshire Council Pothole Slalom Course'.

Weeks later a sign in the same road read Welcome to Hemel Hempstead Probably Better Than Swindon.

Tophe's posters have also cropped up on a disused pub in Marlowes, boarding in London Road, Apsley, the Magic Roundabout, and 100 miles away - in Swindon.
