A 16-year-old girl has been left distressed after a man attempted to touch her as she waited for a bus in Hemel Hempstead.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident, which occurred near the Santander bank in Marlowes on Saturday evening.
The offender approached the young victim at around 6.55pm and tried to engage her in conversation.
Police said a woman and child approached the bus stop and sat at the other end of the row of seats at this time.
The teen returned at around 7.30pm but waited at the bank for her bus. The man was still there and this time attempted to touch her inappropriately.
Det Con Ailsa Turnbull, investigating, said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the young victim and I would encourage anyone who saw what happened to contact me.
“I am particularly keen to hear from the man who went to help the victim and the two women who were in the area prior to the incident taking place.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Det Con Turnbull using the police non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference number D1/14/4507. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
