Colleagues from Grass Roots presented a cheque for £10,814 to football legend Bob Wilson in aid of his charity the Willow Foundation.

The charity is the only one in the UK which provides positive and life-enhancing days to the seriously ill aged between 16 and 40.

To date, the foundation has given more than 10,000 ‘special days’ to young adults who are living with life threatening conditions.

The days aim to enable the seriously ill to focus on something motivating, creating memories with those closest to them and helping them take advantage of what life has to offer.

The glitzy charity dinner in London saw Grass Roots meetings and events sales directors David Taylor and Des McLaughlin hand over the money raised as a result the company’s fundraising effort which included activities such as auctions, bike rides, bake offs and mountain climbing.

The charity was set up in 1999 by former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper Bob and his wife Megs as a lasting memorial to their daughter Anna, who died from cancer aged 31.

Des said: “The work of the Willow Foundation has really struck a chord with our employees and is a constant reminder of how lucky were are to lead happy, healthy lives.”
