Beauty therapy students at Champneys college Tring raised more than 1,000 for Sports Relief by holding a massage-a-thon.

A group of trainee beauty therapists put their new found skills to good use in a bid to raise funds for Sport Relief.

For the first time, the Champneys College girls and their tutor Rachel Halling held a 12-hour massage-a-thon at the college in Wigginton, near Tring, and members of the public were able to indulge in an hour’s full body rub down for a minimum of a £15 donation towards the charity.

Between 10am and 10pm on Friday, the event proved very popular and the students raised more than £1,000. As a result, Rachel revealed she’s keen to hold the event again next year.

She said: “It’s gone really well and the girls have enjoyed themselves, even though they’re a bit tired. It’s great practice for the girls as they can really work on their technique.

“We gave them all a massage at the end of night in return for their hard work.”
